Top Tips for Amusement Park Trips

Summer vacation is here, and that means amusement parks are packed with
families escaping their hectic schedules. Before you visit, there are
some important steps you can take to make sure your trip to the park remains
fun and safe. Read our top tips below:

Dress for the Day

Comfortable, lightweight clothing is essential, especially in the summer
heat. Choose material that will dry easily, just in case of a wet seat
on a water ride or quickly passing storm shower. But the most important
wardrobe choice for the day will be your choice of shoes! Every member
of the family needs not only comfortable footwear, but shoes that will
stay securely on their feet.

Pack for the Day

Always check guidelines before arriving as often, amusement parks limit
the size of bags and coolers you can bring in. Healthy snacks are great,
but it is most important to always pack a water bottle for every member
of the family.

Follow Park Requirements and Warnings

Park and attraction requirements are there for your safety. Never ignore
an attractions’ age or height requirements, or health warnings.
While it can be hard to disappoint a child who is too small or too young
to ride a specific ride, circumventing the rules is dangerous and can
lead to injury.

Have a Separation Plan

Teach children to stay in one place if they become separated from you or
your family. It is also a great idea to introduce your child to a park
attendant upon arrival and point out their uniform colors and name badge.
That way, should they need assistance independent from you, they will
know who at the park can help them.

Regular Check-Ins for Older Children

If you plan to allow older children to explore the park independently,
be sure they have a buddy and arrange regular check-ins throughout the day.

Reapply Sunscreen

Remember that sunscreen should be applied 30 minutes before going into
the sun, and then re-applied every few hours. To avoid misery the day
after your park visit, don’t forget to apply sunscreen to the back
of the neck, back of the legs and feet (if wearing well-fitted sandals).
