Celebrating Pride Month with CVS Health PRIDE+

Farma Darya

Pride Month is a time to celebrate progress toward freedom of self-expression for the LGBTQ+ community and remember that the fight for equity continues. This month, we’re highlighting our PRIDE+ Colleague Resource Group (CRG) and our colleagues who share their individual experiences and voices to create an engaging and inclusive environment at work and for the customers we serve each day.

Our PRIDE+ CRG, which welcomes all LGBTQ+ colleagues and allies, is beyond a networking opportunity. This colleague-led organization helps us strengthen allyship for the LGBTQ+ community and advance our purpose – bringing our heart to every moment of your health. We’ve asked a few of our PRIDE+ CRG members to share their experiences, perspective and why they love being a part of our PRIDE+ CRG.

David Driver, Retail Store Manager
We do business differently here. I see it every day in our stores – and I think there is so much opportunity to bring your authentic self to work. As someone who came up through the store management training program, CVS Health leaders have prepared me to lead a diverse team that welcomes and accepts everyone in our stores.

Carolyn Scully, General Management Develop Program, Product & Strategy
As a young professional joining CVS Health last June, I was afraid to share my identity at work. That feeling soon changed as I joined the PRIDE+ CRG within my first month and realized I wasn’t alone in my experiences. Professionals of every generation bring their authentic selves to work and do it proudly. I have loved being a part of a welcoming group that always makes me feel supported, included, valued and heard.

Michael Scott, Senior Analyst, Front Store Innovation
Being a member of the PRIDE+ CRG at CVS Health is a way to celebrate my identity in and outside of work. I love the unique space that allows me to be myself and connect with members of the LGBTQ+ community along with our allies. There isn’t any hiding. There’s just belonging. We see each other and support each other. As a member of the CRG, I know I’m not alone.

Channing Roman, Patient Service Representative, Patient Care Center
As someone newly out as bisexual, this group has meant the world to me because it has helped to foster my sense of belonging in the greater LGBTQ+ community. It reminds me that even at my job, I am not alone, and others like me can offer support when I am struggling, besides my wonderful partner Joseph. While they may not be my blood family, they are my LGBTQ+ family.

Eric Ferrara, Communications Manager
LGBTQ is a convenient abbreviation, but it represents many identities, and countless lived experiences. PRIDE+ creates opportunities for us to learn from each other, build allyship among our colleagues, and make sure CVS Health is an inclusive employer and health services provider for all.

Pedro Idarraga, Specialty Pharmacy Representative
We make sure that our CRG creates a safe environment for all, not just in our company but outside of it for our families and friends. Our CRG is important because it gives everyone support to a part of society that has been marginalized and discriminated against.
